What we love about this trek is that it is the perfect blend of trekking through breathtaking landscapes with a pilgrimage to perhaps the world’s holiest lake. Often regarded as the home of Lord Shiva and the seat of all spiritual power, Mount Kailash tour holds a special place in the hearts of both Hindus and Buddhists. Devotees of these religions believe that circumambulating the mountain brings good fortune. The trip starts and ends at culturally inspiring city of Kathmandu in Nepal.
In addition to visiting the holy mountain, this trek brings you to Lake Manasarovar, the highest freshwater lake on Earth. Taking a dip here allows the lake to wash away your sins. This tour also feature the rugged beauty of the vast Tibetan plateau.
Your tour begins with a lovely trans-Himalayan flight to Lhasa. Reaching our destination we will have plenty of time to acclimate to avoid altitude sickness. A sightseeing tour in Lhasa takes you to various important landmarks including the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Sera Monastery. Drive through the timeless towns of Gyantse, Shigatse, and Saga to acquaint yourself with the nomadic Buddhist culture of Tibet.
Here, you will get plenty of great photo opportunities of alpine lakes and glaciers and allow sufficient time for acclimatization before you trek across the Dolma La Pass at 5,636 meters during Mount Kailash tour.
After crossing the Dolma La Pass, the trek becomes a bit soft with less strenuous trails to walk. Discover the naturally beautiful Lake Mansarovar with the reflection of Mt. Kailash appearing on its crystal-clear waters. The Kailash Kora trek begins in Darchen, continuing to Dirupak & leading up to Zutrulpuk, where you will explore numerous legendary sites along the path.
The Gauri Kund pond has deep significance to pilgrims at it is known as the Lake of Compassion. According to a belief, Ganesha Ji stopped Lord Shiva while returning home. Ganesha's conduct disappointed Lord Shiva and thus beheaded the child. At this moment, Shiva’s wife Parvati was disappointed and asked for the child's life back. To do so, Lord Shiva then took the head of wandering elephant and set it on the body of Ganesha, thereby giving him his well-known figure.
Mount Kailash tour with Everest Base Camp and Manasarovar lake from Lhasa is a must-do trek for devout pilgrims, every-level adventurers, and travelers who wish to spend a memorable time in a spiritual and natural tour around Mount Kailash, Lake Mansarovar, and Tibet.
Although open year round, we recommend going from May to September. During these times, you have the best chance of favorable weather conditions and should get some amazing views throughout the trip. The temperatures are relatively moderate and summer is perfect for bathing in the holy waters and other outdoor activities.

Extra personal expenses that may incur on the trip include horse ride during Kora, hot shower, recharging batteries and other electronic gadgets, bottled/boiled water, phone and internet usages, soda, alcoholic beverages, tipping, other services not listed, and recreational expenses. Please check Important Notes for details.
While it is not mandatory, tipping is an accepted way of saying ‘Thank you’ to your staff for their services. It is good to carry small denominations of US$ for small tips to driver, hotel staff etc. The tips for guides and porters are generally based on the number of trekking days and can be pooled together with other trekkers or made directly to the individuals. A common way to calculate tipping is 8 to 10% of your trip cost per person. This amount can be adjusted based on your overall satisfaction and staff performance. Your tip is offered at the end of the trip. The guide has the most responsibility, so generally is offered a higher tip than assistant guides or porters. Suggested ratio can be – (guide: assistant guide: porter/porters = 50:30:20). You can distribute the tips directly to the guide, assistant guide and porter. If there is more than one porter, then you can give them a certain amount and they will share among themselves. Also, please do not ask them how much they would like to be given. You can tip in USD or Nepalese rupees. This is just a guideline for tipping and is not obligatory.
To help you pack for your adventure, we have listed equipment and a pack list below. Please note that the listed items may vary according to the different seasons. Remember that your luggage will be carried by yaks and Nepalese staffs but you are required to carry a day-pack (with your valuables or anything important) on your own. As the altitude goes up, the oxygen density gets lower affecting your cardiac and pulmonary systems. Our bodies must adjust to avoid mountain sickness, thus we arrange our treks and day-to-day itinerary to incorporate with required acclimatization days.
